Start Date Set for Broadway’s Michael Luwoye in Hamilton

Michael Luwoye, a former understudy in the Broadway production of Hamilton, is set to return to the show in the title role starting on January 16, 2018. He currently leads the touring cast of the hit musical. He has also performed off-Broadway in Invisible Thread, for which he garnered a coveted Lucille Lortel Award nomination, and in Cardboard Piano at the Actors Theatre of Louisville.

Luwoye’s return to the Hamilton on Broadway production means the end of Javier Muñoz’s run in the title role. The original company member will play his final performance on January 14 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. The current Broadway cast includes Daniel Breaker as Aaron Burr, Bryan Terrell Clark as George Washington, Mandy Gonzalez as Angelica Schuyler, James Monroe Iglehart as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, J. Quinton Johnson as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison, Joanna A. Jones as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds, Lexi Lawson as Eliza Hamilton, Anthony Lee Medina as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton, and Euan Morton as King George.
