Denée Benton and Carvens Lissaint are joining the Broadway production of Hamilton as Eliza and George Washington, respectively. The Tony-winning musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda will feature Benton and Lissaint in the roles beginning October 30th, replacing Lexi Lawson and Bryan Terrell Clark, who are scheduled to perform their final shows on October 28th.
Benton is a Tony nominee who previously made her Broadway debut in Dave Malloy’s Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, for which she also received a Theatre World Award. She has also appeared on the small screen in The Narrative of Dalvin Reynolds, UnREAL, and 25.
Lissaint, a former Hamilton Broadway company member, will return to the show after a stint on tour. He has also appeared in the television show Lexus Verses and Flow.
The current Broadway cast of Hamilton also includes Michael Luwoye as Alexander Hamilton, Daniel Breaker as Aaron Burr, Mandy Gonzalez as Angelica Schuyler, James Monroe Iglehart as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, Wallace Smith as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison, Joanna A. Jones as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds, Anthony Lee Medina as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton, and Euan Morton as King George.
